Avery attended her first ballet class when she was four years old. From the very beginning, she was captivated by the movement and music. Then, during her first recital, she fell in love with the stage.
She remembers being so excited to perform on the big stage, under the lights, with everyone watching. It was something she could not wait to do again.
As she continued taking classes, she eagerly waited for the day she would receive her first pair of pointe shoes. She can still recall every detail of that day, and in that moment, she knew her dream was to become a professional ballet dancer.
She began pre-professional daytime training in 9th grade with George Birkadze and Ashley Ellis. The three years she spent training with them were transformative not only for her technique, but also for her artistry.
This past May, she completed her pre-professional training and graduated from Houston Ballet Academy. She will take the first steps of her professional career in the upcoming 2026/27 season, and she could not be more excited.
Ballet has been an integral part of her life since she was four years old. For her, there is nothing more magical than sharing a story with the audience through music and movement. She feels it is an incredible privilege to be part of this art form and is excited to continue growing both personally and professionally.

Her favorite ballet is The Sleeping Beauty, and her dream role is Aurora.
Her favorite part of class is the opportunity to continue refining her technique and artistry. In rehearsal, she loves the excitement of preparing to share a story with the audience.

Her pre-performance rituals include having her favorite latte, doing a focused warm-up in her favorite leotard and warmups, deep breathing, visualization, prayer, and hugging her coach before going on stage.
Her advice to aspiring dancers is to work hard, focus on their goals, have confidence, smile, and enjoy every moment — both in the studio and on stage.
